Weekly Private Lessons

I am a big believer that all people deserve to have weekly and daily moments of music in their lives. Because of this, I strive to create a welcoming, informative, and mutually beneficial music studio. With a combination of one on one lesson times, access to dedicated online resources, and a sliding scale to fit a variety of schedules and budgets; I hope to create an environment where every can strive to be the musician they would like to be.

Sliding Scale Pricing

After your first lesson I move to a sliding scale depending on the amount of lessons you wish to take per month. This way you can easily take time off that you need without guilt, but also can feel like you are getting the best price for a weekly investment.

  • One Lesson a Month: $70 USD

  • Two Lessons a Month $60 USD

  • Weekly Lessons $50 USD

Collaborative Learning Groups

Unlike a Traditional Music Courses/Group Lessons, a Collaborative Learning Group does not have a set of preplanned curriculums, activities, and expectations that students are expected to participate in whether or not they are a best fit for that learning style.

Collaborative Learning Group creates a learning environment where the students and instructor work together to establish the desired content, process of evaluation, and timeline of the course.

In this model, the instructor (myself) is more of a facilitator of learning and mentor to help students develop their own models of self directed learning.

In this inaugural class, students can expect to learn many skillsets in both the physical and mental aspects of playing the clawhammer banjo. They can expect to learn basic theory, a suite of familiar (everyday melodies) and banjo tunes, as well as a variety of practice habits.

I cannot guarantee that you will be ready to go out on the road touring by the end of this course, but I can promise that you will have a weekly opportunity to learn about your instrument, meet a group of like minded people, and have a much more thorough understanding of the music you make, and how you would like it to fit into your life.

What People Are Saying

“Not only is Phil an excellent musician, but he’s also a marvelous teacher. He makes sure that lessons are a good blend of both technique-building exercises and exciting new repertoire. Phil is both encouraging and upbeat while challenging you to grow as a musician. He is so student-focused and works hard to ensure lessons fit the needs of each individual player. If you were on the fence about whether or not to sign up for those lessons, I’d take the plunge. You won’t regret it!”
